(VOVworld) – The awards ceremony for the 5th writing contest on noble but modest role models took place in Hanoi on Saturday.

Addressing the function, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Nguyen Thien Nhan praised the contest as part of efforts to promote the movement to follow President Ho Chi Minh’s moral example. First prize went to Phan Tien Dung’s entry about Tran Thang, an overseas Vietnamese in the US, who collected more than 150 maps and 3 atlases to confirm Vietnam’s maritime sovereignty.

Thang then donated his collection to the Da Nang Socio-Economic Development Research Institute.
