PANO – The National Hospital Pediatrics and CLAN, an Australian-based non-governmental organization, established the Vietnam’s first Lupus club in Hanoi on July 3rd.

Lupus, or systemic lupus erythematosus, is a disease caused when the body’s immune system becomes so hyperactive that it could attack almost all major body organs, causing exhaustion and infection of skin and problems to kidneys, lounges, nerve system and joints.

Up to 60 per cent of people with Lupus are diagnosed with lupus nephritis, which can lead to significant illness and even death.

The establishment of the club is expected to raise awareness of patients’ families of Lupus through education activities and help more effectively treat the disease.
