Nhan Dan Online – A new building for professional techniques – administration – ambulance services was inaugurated at Duc Giang hospital in Hanoi on July 21 by the Hanoi city Department of Health.
The building was constructed as the first phase of a VND 861 billion (US$40.6 million) project to modernise the hospital and upgrade its medical equipment.
In the second phase of the project, the hospital will add a building with wards for inpatient and outpatient treatment, infectious diseases, pharmaceutical and medical, and other support areas.
With a total floor area of over 46,770 square metres, the new seven-storey hospital is designed to accommodate 500 beds. The project is scheduled for completion in late 2015.
Duc Giang will be the first hospital in Hanoi to be equipped with a Building Management System (BMS), which allows better management of the hospital’s buildings.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Hanoi Municipal People’s Committee, Nguyen The Thao stressed the important role of Duc Giang hospital, which provides check-ups and treatment for people in Hanoi and neighbouring areas of Bac Giang, Bac Ninh and Hung Yen provinces, as well as healthcare services during major events in Hanoi.
He urged doctors and medical staff at the hospital to enhance their performance, improve their qualifications, and undertake research to develop new techniques.
He also asked the hospital’s leaders to build a detailed plan to utilise the newly upgraded facilities to improve its service quality.
