The Provincial Traffic Safety Committee has preliminarily summarized the task of ensuring traffic order and safety in the first 6 months as well as implementing key tasks for the coming time.

According to the report by the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee, during the first 6 months of the year, traffic accidents in the province were put under strict control. Through the province there were 171 traffic accidents, causing 63 fatlities, 193 injuries, over VND 890-million damage. Compared to the same period in 2013, the number of traffic accidents has decreased 8 cases, deaths decreased 15 cases. Vehicles causing accidents were mainly in the province (accounting for 84%). Traffic accidents often happened on highways and urban roads. Also during this time, 33,166 cases were recorded in violation of traffic safety and order; over VND 19.9 billion from administrative sanctions; 3,890 motorcycles and 132 cars temporarily seized, 2,317 drivers license stripped. Besides, the Provincial Department of Traffic and Transportation has put the vehicle-load inspecting station working on the National Highway 1. Thereby, 641 vehicles were checked, 247 cases were sanctioned at the amount of VND 900 million, 1,203 tons of cargo forced unloading.



Addressing at the conference, PPC Vice Standing Chairman, Mr. Le Van Truc, appreciated the efforts of the departments, sectors, local authorities in coordinating to implement the task of ensuring traffic safety. In the coming time, the Vice Standing Chairman required traffic and transportation inspectors, traffic police to strengthen patrolling, controlling, and strictly handle violations of traffic safety; especially controlling vehicle-load on the routes. The Department of Traffic and Transportation needs to direct route-managing units and propose localities to install signage systems and equipment to ensure traffic safety on rural areas; mobilize people to dismantle barriers limiting visibility at the intersection … The authorities need to closely manage trading sub-standard helmets in the market …
