| As of June 30, the message sending program titled “Joining hands for the homeland’s sea and islands” received over one million messages, contributing over VND18.6 billion in support for soldiers, people and fishermen working on the Spratly and Paracel archipelagos.
In addition, the Vietnam Red Cross (VRC) Central Committee also received over VND1.3 billion from domestic and foreign organizations, enterprises and individuals through the VRC account to support the program. Earlier, in May, the program was launched and organised by the Ministry of Information and Communications, the VRC, Vietnam Television (VTV), Tuoi tre (Youth) Newspaper, Vietnam Digital Television VTC, the national humanitarian portal, and Go.vn website. By sending a message “BD” to 1409, senders can contribute VND18,000 to the campaign. The program aims to give assistance to soldiers, people and fishermen who are working at the Spratly and Paracel Archipelagos. It also aims to buy essential equipment for the coast guard and fisheries resources surveillance forces and fishermen going offshore, contributing to developing the economy and protecting the nation’s sovereignty./. |
