Phu Tho still preserves many cultural heritages, especially those associated with the Hung dynasty. So, in the past years, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Phu Tho province has issued guidelines, policies and specific measures to direct the conservation and improvement of heritages in sustainable development orientation.



In recent years, particularly in 2014, Phu Tho Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has focused on implementing the overall and synchronous tasks which aim to preserve and promote the traditional values of the nation. Specifically: Accelerate the implementation of projects and plans which have been approved, focusing on implementing the scheme preserving and promoting the intangible cultural heritage in need of urgent protection: Xoan singing of Phu Tho (period 2013-2020); Develop tourism into a major economic sectors in a sustainable, professional, modern and focused way. The Department has also set specific goals such as mobilising resources and encouraging investment to increase the number of accommodation establishments, restaurants, entertainment points, and services in a modern and professional way to meet the increasing demand of tourists, and accelerate the implementation of large-scale projects in tourism development planning of Phu Tho province for 2011-2020, towards 2030 in the orientation of diversifying the types of tourism products with specific characteristics. It has invested to develop tourism infrastructure the value of historic, cultural and scenic to ensure sustainable tourism development. The Department continues to implement the Scheme “Improve Vietnamese physical status and stature in 2011-2030″ in the province associated with the campaign “All people to take physical exercise following the example of Great Uncle Ho” in 2012-2020.


In particular, Phu Tho is focusing on promoting the traditional cultural values of the nation, especially after Xoan singing of Phu Tho and “Religious worship of Hung King” were recognized by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritages. The Department of Culture, Sports and tourism of Phu Tho province has decided to implement many specific action plans. In 2014, the Department has proposed the Provincial People Committee to implement strategic solutions to preserve and promote traditional cultural values of not only Vietnamese people but also the intangible cultural heritage representation of humanity.


Mr Nguyen Ngoc An, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said: “We have proposed and divided the project into 5 components under the scheme preserving and promoting the value of the intangible cultural heritages in need of urgent protection – Xoan singing of Phu Tho period 2013-2020. ”


In preserving and promoting the “Religious worship Hung King“, besides the above solutions, the Department has advised organising the annual Festival of Hung Temple, considered as the centre of religious convergence worship Hung King, and create favourable conditions for the organisation of festivals, folk performances associated with the relics related to religious worship Hung King in the localities, and encouraged to organize cultural folk art traditions associated with the festival.


With the determination of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, it is hoped that the Culture, Sports and Tourism of Phu Tho will build on the results achieved in the conservation and promotion of traditional cultural values of the nation to ensure these cultural values are handed down for future generations.
