The provincial People’s Committee (PPC), on July 29, held a working session with planning experts from Sembcorp Singapore and related departments, agencies to be introduced the General Master Plan of Quang Ngai city till 2030; orientation and measures for urban development of Quang Ngai province.
Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Le Viet Chu, Acting Chairman of the PPC Le Quang Thich, and Vice Chairman of the PPC Pham Truong Tho attended the meeting.
According to the approved General Master Plan of Quang Ngai city till 2030, the total area of the city is more than 14,230ha. After adjusting and expanding the administrative border, the total city’s natural area increases to 16,015ha, including 09 wards and 14 communes with the population of 260,252 people.
It is expected that by 2030, the city’s total population will be around 358,000 people, of which, urban population of 310,000 people; urban land of over 10,179ha.
As planned, Quang Ngai city will be developed along two sides of Tra Khuc River and closely linked to the Dung Quat Economic Zone. Urban space of Quang Ngai city will follow sea direction and associate with Tourism Areas of My Khe beach, Nghia An beach, Sa Ky seaport, and coastal economic route of Quang Ngai province.
Quang Ngai city will be divided into 04 basic functioned areas, including city center, riverside front, ecological park, and seaside area.
At the meeting, Acting Chairman of the PPC Le Quang Thich stressed the strategy and feasibility of the Planning, he also affirmed that Quang Ngai province will focus on the development of light industry in the city and also concentrate to develop fisheries economy.
Idea of “A River City” was also shared. Thich said that the development of Quang Ngai city along the riverside would help to promote tourism development, contributing to economic growth.
Quang Ngai province always appreciate and acquire good and new ideas from Sembcorp’s experts and hopes to receive more supports from experts during the implementation of the Planning, Acting Chairman Thich emphasized.
