 The ceremony in Vientiane (Photo: VNA) The Overseas Vietnamese community in Laos organized a ceremony to pray for territorial integrity of Vietnam in Vientiane capital on July 13. The ceremony took place in the solemn atmosphere at Phat Tich pagoda with the participation of a large number of Vietnamese in Vientiane, representatives of Vietnamese Embassy in Laos, General Assembly of Overseas Vietnamese in Laos, Overseas Vietnamese Association in Vientiane, Vietnamese Business Association in Laos and Lao monks. The event expresses deep feelings of the Vietnamese community in Laos for the soldiers at home who are safeguarding national sovereignty at sea. At the same time, the Vietnamese community in Laos also condemned China disregarding international laws and resolutely asked China to immediately withdraw the Haiyang Shiyou-981 drilling rig out off Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf. Lao Buddhists also wished and prayed for Vietnam to live in peace and together to build the Vietnam-Laos special relation stronger. After the ceremony, the overseas Vietnamese raised fund to support the coast guard, fisheries surveillance forces and fishermen./. |
