Wind power gets $109m windfall

The Vietracon company of Germany and the Green Venture Invest AG company of Switzerland will work together to build a wind power plant on an area of 600 hectares in the economic zone Nhon Hoi in the South Central coastal province of Binh Dinh.


The companies will invest $109m in a plant with a capacity of 61.1 MW. The construction of the plant is implemented in two phases. In the first phase, the plant will have a capacity of 30.55MW and begin producing power in 2016. The second phase, which is slated to be completed in 2020, will bring the plant to its full capacity.

Undersea cable to connect island to grid


HCM City has drawn up a plan to carry out a submarine-cable project to supply national power to 1,144 households in the Thanh An island commune of Can Gio District.


The cost of the project is estimated at nearly VND250 billion or $11.73 million with 8.710km on land and 5.874km under sea, and the work will begin in the fourth quarter this year.
