HA NOI (VNS) – Politburo member Le Hong Anh yesterday met Wang Jiarui, Vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.
Anh is visiting China in his role as Special Envoy of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
During the reception, Anh, who is also permanent member of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV), said his visit aimed to discuss with Chinese leaders how relations between the two nations and Parties could be restored and boosted.
He said the two Parties and countries needed to strengthen their co-operation and maintain a healthy and stable relationship.
He said this was particularly true in the face of tensions in the East Sea, which had affected ties between the two Parties and countries as well as the security, peace and stability in the region.
The Vietnamese official spoke highly of close collaboration between the CPV Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations and the Communist Party of China’s International Liaison Department, particularly in the implementation of signed agreements and people-to-people exchange programmes.
He said he hoped that, as Vice-chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and head of the International Liaison Department, Wang would continue his contributions to maintaining and nurturing bilateral ties.
Wang said China attached great importance to Anh’s visit. He said he believed the visit would help solve existing disputes and differences between the two countries in a satisfactory way as well as boost their relations. – VNS
