HA NOI (VNS) – Caring for those who rendered service to the nation, including former youth volunteers, was the responsibility of the Party, State, and the entire society, said Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

The Party leader said this while meeting with a delegation of ex-youth volunteers and heroes of the armed forces yesterday to mark August Revolution Day (August 19) and National Day (September 2).

He said every Vietnamese owed a debt of gratitude to generations of ex-youth volunteers whose great contributions and sacrifices during the wars were honoured in the country’s history.

The Party chief hailed the effective operation of the Ex-Youth Volunteers’ Association of Viet Nam in all fields, especially in caring for the living conditions of its members and giving advice to the Party and State on how to devise better support policies.

He listened to their difficulties and said he hoped to receive more.

Chairman of the Ex-Youth Volunteers’ Association of Viet Nam, Nguyen Anh Lien, thanked the Party and State for material and spiritual care for volunteers.

He said the association had launched a movement among its members to support poverty reduction. – VNS
