(CPV) -The Phu Yen People’s Committee has decided to allocate VND10.9 billion to communes and districts in the province and Dong Cam one-member Irrigation Ltd., Co. to help prevent the negative consequenses of any drought during the 2013 summer-autumn crop. Two localities previously suffering the most from drought, the Cau River town and Dong Xuan mountainous district will be assisted with VND1.7 and 1.6 billion, respectively. Others of Tay Hoa, Tuy An, Dong Hoa, Son Hoa and Hinh River will be allocated VND2.5 billion, VND1.5 billion, VND1 billion, VND700 million and VND600 million, respectively. The Dong Cam Irrigation one-member Ltd., Co will be assigned VND1.3 billion. Earlier, the Provincial People’s Committee asked its localities to spend more than VND22 trillion preventing drought and surveying damage on cultivated plants in order to provide timely assisstance. According to the Phu Yen Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, 576 hectares of summer-fall rice in the province have been shifted to other crops, due to the lack of water. In addition, 17,636 hectares of cultivated plants of all kinds encountered drought, including 8,718 hectares of rice (534 hecteres lost), 3,225 hectares of sugarcane, 4,846 hectares of cassava and 743hectares of other crops./. |
