HA NOI (VNS) – Viet Nam Foreign Ministry has sent a diplomatic note to the Australian Ambassador in Ha Noi opposing a censorship order by the Australian Supreme Court in the state of Victoria as reported by Wikileaks on Thursday.
According to the diplomatic note, Viet Nam strongly denounced the court’s censorship order on July 19 concerning the Australian-style polymer note printing case, which lists names of several senior foreign leaders, including those from Viet Nam. This harmed the personal dignity of Vietnamese leaders and Viet Nam’s image, the note said.
The note also said that Viet Nam demanded a serious explanation of the order and to report the case openly for the public to access the truth.
The Australian Embassy in Ha Noi confirmed the receipt of the note, saying that the Australian government would seriously examine the matter. – VNS
