(VOV) – National Assembly (NA) Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung has urged the legislative bodies of Vietnam and Australian to promote reciprocal delegation exchange and share legislative experiences at international parliamentary forums.
At his talks with the visiting Speaker of the House of Representatives of Australia, Bronwyn Bishop in Hanoi on September 13, the top Vietnamese legislator congratulated the successful election in Australia in which Bronwyn Bishop was elected Speaker of the Australian House of Representatives.
Cooperative relations between the two countries have enjoyed a historical tradition for over 40 years and are on the right track to grow steadily in many fields, especially in investment and trade, prominently demonstrated by ever-increasing bilateral trade turnover.
NA Chairman Hung suggested the two sides should further bolster cooperation in defense, security and education in line with conditions of each side for the sake of peace and development.
The top lawmaker thanked the Government and people of Australia for providing aid for Vietnam’s investment projects which have markedly contributed to pushing up its socio-economic development.
“In the spirit of signed cooperation agreements with the Vietnam – Australia Friendship Parliamentarian Group acting as a bridge, the two NAs should intensify closer coordination at international parliamentary forums thus gaining even greater achievements in the time ahead.” Hung said.
On the occasion, NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung invited Lower House Speaker Bronwyn Bishop to visit Vietnam for the 132nd General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU 132) scheduled for Hanoi next year.
The Australian Lower House speaker Bronwyn Bishop, in turn, affirmed her visit is designed to further tighten relations between the two legislatures and the two countries alike.
Vietnam and Australia should urgently establish a regular cooperation channel aiming to boost cooperation programs and projects for mutual benefit as well as bilateral cooperation in legislation and supervision, the Australian legislator told her host.
The two law makers also stated that the two countries need to foster education cooperation to fully tap huge potentiality in this field.
