PANO – The Department of Policy under the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army met with representatives of those who had rendered good services to the revolution from Central province of Quang Ngai on their visit to Hanoi on September 19th.

During the two national resistance wars against foreign invaders, the province has nearly 37,000 martyrs, 24,000 injured soldiers, over 10,000 former political prisoners and prisoners of war, and more than 3,500 heroic Vietnamese mothers (403 of them are alive).

The Department’s leaders inquired after the participants’ health and briefed them on the implementation of policies and gratitude activities to those who had distinguished themselves in the national revolutionary cause.

In recent years, the Ministry of National Defence has made recommendations to the Party and State to issue more policies benefiting those who had rendered good services to the nation, actively searched and collected remains of fallen soldiers inside and outside the country, presented houses to policy beneficiaries, helped people overcome natural disasters’ aftermath, eliminate hunger and reduce poverty.

Since 2006, the whole army units have constructed around 10,000 houses, contributed over VND 600 billion to the gratitude fund, taken care of 1,440 heroic Vietnamese mothers, created jobs for about 200 children of war invalids and sick soldiers, and granted gifts and equipment worth VND 30 billion to convalescent centres nationwide.
