Supply of high quality human resource has failed to meet continuously increasing demand in Ho Chi Minh City, said Mr. Tran Anh Tuan, deputy director of the HCMC Center of Forecasting Manpower Needs and Labor Market Information (FALMI).

The shortest is medium and senior managers. Several companies have had to recruit staff from other countries in the Asian region.
According to a survey by the center, HCMC needs about 8,000 computer and internet programmers, web system engineers, Internet security engineers and technicians a year.
However, domestic supply meets only 30 percent of electricity and electronic companies’ demand. Mechanics is short of experienced workers fluent in Japanese and English.
Mr. Tuan said that high quality human resource requires not only high qualifications but also professional knowledge, fluent foreign language, and soft skills.
Meanwhile, 70 percent of bachelors in Vietnam are not to meet these requirements, he said.
The number of unemployed bachelors is reported to reach 162,000 now.
