Rice museum to rise in Mekong Delta

The Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta of Vinh Long plans to build a museum of rice production in the province’s Vung Liem District. The 3-hectare museum with a cost of VND70 billion (US$3.33 million) will display and introduce farming tools as well as the development of rice cultivation and the agricultural industry. The museum will be open to researchers and to domestic and foreign tourists.

Urban areas see higher unemployment


As of the end of September, Viet Nam had 54.4 million workers, an increase of 583,000 people compared to the same period last year, according to statistics released by the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs.



Male workers accounted for 51.6 per cent and female workers, 48.4 per cent. The country’s average unemployment rate was 2.12 per cent in the first nine months of the year. The unemployment rate among people in urban and rural areas was 3.51 per cent and 1.56 per cent, respectively.

City opens parking lots for bus commuters


The HCM City Public Transport Management and Operation Centre has announced that two parking lots for motorcycles and bicycles will open today (October 1) at bus stations at September 23 Park in District 1 and 397 National Highway 50 in District 8. The parking lots are open from 4:30 am to 10 pm. Students with bus tickets will park their vehicles for free.
