The Hanoitimes – The Cultural Tourism Week of Mu Cang Chai terraced field 2014 was opened in Mu Cang Chai district, the northern mountainous province of Yen Bai on September 25.
This is a practical activity to respond to World Tourism Day (September 27) and mark the 57th anniversary of Mu Cang Chai district’s establishment (October 18).
The event is expected to draw a large number of travellers both locals and foreigners to enjoy a show of local costumes imbued with ethnic culture.
Community-based tours to tourist attractions in the district will also be offered at the festival.
Coming to the festival, visitors will have a chance to visit a fair with 14 booths of communes and towns in the district, in which typical traditional products of Hmong people and cultural features will be displayed. The festival is organised annually to promote local tourism and culture through an introduction to the local landscape, people, culture and potential to domestic and international visitors.
The festival aims to highlight the gorgeous beauty of Mu Cang Chai terraced field and local ethnic minority groups’ cultural values.
It also enhances the relic’s preservation, promotion and tourism development.
The event will last until September 30.
