Switzerland said it would like the country’s precision watch making to be inscribed on a United Nations global heritage list.

The Swiss government said it planned, from 2015, to submit a dozen candidates for listing by UNESCO, the world body’s cultural arm.

Besides the watch making, the Swiss also wants the deep-seated traditions such as yodeling, graphic and typographic design (epitomized by the Helvetica font) to be on UNESCO heritage list.

Switzerland already has 11 sites with conventional World Heritage status, including the old city of Berne, the convent of St Gall, and the Jungfrau-Aletsch region of the Alps.
