VGP – The 13th anti-corruption dialogue themed “Anti-corruption preventive measures and asset recovery” was held on November 26 in Ha Noi.
The event was jointly-organized by the Government Inspectorate of Viet Nam, the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) and the British Embassy.
Minister of Justice Ha Hung Cuong affirmed that as a member of the United Nations Convention against Corruption, Viet Nam regards the preventive measures as crucial and fundamental to prevent corruption at all levels.
To enhance the anti-corruption works, Viet Nam’s Government, ministries and agencies have made efforts in completing the mechanism and launching activities and measures as well as strengthening international cooperation in this area.
Anti-corruption measures have made achievements, asserted Deputy PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc at the event, referring advances in administrative procedures in investment, land and business establishment.
He proposed delegates analyze and clarify the status as well as putting forward solutions and recommendations suitable with Viet Nam’s situations.
The event, showing the Vietnamese Government’s desires to cooperate with the international sponsor community and organizations, actively affects the policy-making process, functional agencies’ anti-corruption ability, encourages the participation of the whole society in preventing corruption and consolidates the belief of the international community for Viet Nam.
According to statistics from the Supreme People’s Procuracy, from October 1, 2010 to April 30, 2013, the total value of bribery assets and losses caused by corruption was over VND17 trillion (US$800 million), of which nearly VND5 trillion was taken back, accounting for 29.4%.
The government’s report on anti-corruption work in 2014 shows that so far this year, inspections brought to light 54 corruption cases involved a total money of VND68.5 billion, of which VND46.9 billion was recovered.
