(VOVworld) – 3,000 people joined a meeting in Hanoi on Sunday in response to the national month of actions against HIV/AIDS. The month of actions include communications campaign on HIV/AIDS Control Law, national program on HIV/AIDS and awareness raising to prevent discrimination and stigmatization against people with HIV/AIDS.
Deputy Minister of Health, Nguyen Thanh Long, was speaking at the meeting: “Vietnam responds to the world anti HIV/AIDS campaign to achieve no new HIV carrier, no death of AIDS and no discrimination against HIV/AIDS. No discrimination against people with HIV has been selected as the theme for this year’s HIV/AIDS activities in Vietnam.”
Similar events took place in Dien Bien province, where students and peer groups went to the streets to encourage the community to respond to the month of actions against HIV/AIDS. Vietnam has more than 224,000 people infected with HIV while the number of new cases reported annually is up to 14,000.
