(VOVworld) – After hitting the northern part of Phu Yen province , storm Sinlaku has reduced into a tropical pressure, causing heavy rains in Phu Yen, Binh Dinh, and some Central Highland provinces. Floods from rivers in Quang Ngai, Phu Yen, Gia Lai, Kon Tum provinces surged quickly on Sunday which would inundate the coastal and low land areas of these provinces.
The Central Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control has asked localities to closely follow rain and flood development and monitor reservoirs and areas of potential landslide and flashflood in order to promptly evacuate people.
Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat talked at a meeting of the Committee in Phu Yen on Sunday.
“We now focus on dealing with flood and support people to prevent flood. Localities have regularly suffered from floods after the storms. Floods swept away houses and caused human casualties. Localities should arrange functional forces to guard and instruct people to avoid traveling through dangerous places.” Mr. Phat said.
