A seminar on the future for mobile and TV media took place in Ho Chi Minh City on Thursday, attracting representatives from big firms in the media industry to discuss how to produce more innovative media products.
The event created a chance for participants to meet leading innovative Swedish and Vietnamese media companies that shared their own stories and experiences in producing interesting media products.
Several IT solutions such as web development and mobile applications were also mentioned at the event, in the hope of building a more innovative media industry that provides customers with fast, convenient services.
According to Camilla Mellander, Swedish Ambassador to Vietnam, the digital economy continues to develop and its significance in people’s daily life plays an ever-increasing role.
“The Internet economy, which is certainly difficult to measure, is one of the few sectors that managed to prosper during the recent years of crisis. The outlook for the Internet economy, as far as growth and jobs are concerned, continues to look bright,” she added.
“The TV and media industry is in the midst of complete transformation, defined by unprecedented choice, better quality, greater personalization and highly lucrative monetization models,” said Jan Wassenius, President of Ericsson Vietnam and Myanmar.
The representative from Ericsson also emphasized that TV stakeholders need an agile strategy in the TV industry for 2020, when the industry is expected to bring in revenue of up to US$750 billion, serving over eight billion connected mobile broadband subscribers and more than 50 billion connected devices all plugged into a global IP network with 15 billion connected devices that are video enabled.
The seminar was co-organized by the Swedish Embassy in Vietnam, the Vietnamese Ministry of Information and Communications, and Ericsson – a Swedish multinational provider of communications technology and services – as part of the “Innovative Sweden” program.
The program, which celebrates 45 years of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Sweden, kicked off on November 10 and will close on November 30.
