Typhoon Hagupit was located 400 kilometers of eastwards of Sama Island (Philipines), at 11, 9 degrees north latitude and 129 degrees east longitude with its sustained wind speeds of from level 16- 17, at 184- 201 kilometers an hour, announced by the National Hydrology Meteorology Forecast Center on December 5.

In the past 24 hours, the typhoon moved mainly westwards with its speed of 10- 15 kilometers an hour.
By last night, super storm Hagupit was centered 120 kilometers of eastwards of Sama Island, at 12 degrees north latitude and 126, 3 degrees east longitude. The strongest wind was measured at level 15- 16, gusts up to level 17.
In next 24 hours, the storm will continue to move westwards, at around 10- 15 kilometers an hour. Later, it will change direction and move west northwestwards.
In addition, a cold front will shoulder on the large- scale nationwide, which will cause strong wind gust up to level 6- 8 in the area of Gulf of Tonkin, especially, central coastal provinces will experience heavy rain by the evening of December 6.
On the same day, the Central Hydrology Meteorology Forecast Center held a press conference in Hanoi, in order to predict the typhoon’s direction. Speaking at the press conference, Director of the Central Hydrology Meteorology Forecast Center Hoang Duc Cuong said that super storm Hagupit with complicated direction is forecast to make landfall in the areas of south central provinces, and cause heavy rains with 200- 300 mm rainfall.
