Ha Giang, December 19 (VNA) – The pair of Thanh Thuy and Tianbao border gates at the shared border line between Vietnam’s Ha Giang province and China’s Yunnan officially became international border gates at a ceremony jointly held by Ha Giang People’s Committee and Yunnan authorities in Ha Giang on December 19.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dang Minh Khoi said the upgrading of the pair of border gates has a significant role in promoting global integration of the two localities and creating favourable conditions for cooperation and exchange between the two countries sides as well as the connectivity with other ASEAN’s members in multi-faceted fields.
The event is important not only for Ha Giang and Yunnan provinces but also for the friendship and comprehensive collaboration between Vietnam and China, Khoi added.
He noted that Ha Giang should coordinate with Yunnan to build infrastructure, simplify customs clearance procedures as well as design incentives with a view to promoting border economic growth.
Chairman of Ha Giang People’s Committee Dam Van Bong said that the province will call for investment from both domestic and foreign economic sectors to develop the infrastructure at the border gate as well as promote trade and services.
On his part, Yunnan’s Deputy Governor Gao Shu Xun stressed that the new international border gates will open up more cooperating opportunities for border provinces, contributing to building a peaceful and stable frontier.
