(CPV) – Adventure travel is one of the types of tourism attracting many tourists, especially those who like exploration, adventure and discovering new things in the nature and native cultures, especially in remote areas.Vietnam’s adventure travel potentialsVietnam has diverse tourism potential and it is emerging as a new and attractive destination on the world tourism map. Three quarters of the terrain is mountainous with interlacing river and channel systems, limestone mountains, beautiful caves, tropical primary forests, nature reserves, large national parks and over 3,200 kilometers of coastline, which create rich scenery and a lively source for artwork stretching from north to south. These are favorable conditions for the development of adventure travel such as trekking, hiking, racing cars, motorcycles and bicycles, diving, rafting, sailing, surfing, skydiving, paragliding, balloon. Photo for illustration (Source: dulichvietnam.com.vn) With spectacular natural, beautiful, pristine scenery and unique cultural identity of ethnic minorities, mountainous areas of the Northeast, Northwest, Central Highlands are the great locations for organizing adventure tours in Vietnam. The route from Da Nang to Kon Tum, from Da Lat to Phan Rang, Prenn pass; the route No. 4 from Cao Bang to Ha Giang; the route in Ha Giang; Northwestern arc route from Hoa Binh to Son La, Dien Bien, Lai Chau, Sa Pa; and the route from Lao Cai to Bac Ha are routes with spectacular landscapes. It is very suitable for organizing adventure tours such as motorcycles, driving and cycling. Fansipan peak in Lao Cai province; Ma Pi Leng peak in Meo Vac district, Ha Giang province; Lang Biang mountain in Da Lat city, Lam Dong province; Yen Tu mountain in Quang Ninh province, Bach Ma peak in Thua Thien-Hue province and Phu Tu island in Kien Giang province are ideal places to organize mountaineering. Vietnam also has many beautiful and majestic waterfalls, suitable to host adventure travel, particularly rafting and inland watersports such as Dau Dang waterfall in Ba Be lake, Dray Sap, Dray Nu and Dam Bri waterfalls in the Central Highlands, Ban Gioc waterfall in Cao Bang province and many other waterfalls in the northeastern and northwestern mountainous regions. With the long coastline, hundreds of beautiful and attractive beaches and islands like Cat Ba, Cu Lao Cham, Phu Quoc, Con Dao islands and islands in Ha Long bay, Bai Tu Long bay, we can organize various types of adventure travel on the islands and under the sea such as scuba diving, sailing kayak, sailing, windsurfing, parachuting. The dense river and lake system has tremendous potential for the organization of various types of adventure travel. Development reality Over the past years, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) has regularly organized travel business delegations to survey routes and destinations nationwide. However, the tourism sector has only exploited adventure travel potentials in delta, coastal and mountainous regions, which are near towns, along national roads. Major rich tourism resources have not been full exploited. There aren’t many travel businesses organizing adventure tours. They only organize tours such as conquering Fansipan peak, Lang Biang peak, mountain bike, sport motor in mountainous areas, sailing on Ha Long Bay and Cat Ba island. However, the fact shows that the deployment of adventure tourism programs faces many obstacles. Travel businesses said that most Vietnamese people don’t have habit of discovery and adventure, meanwhile, foreign tourists prefer this type, but they expect high safety standards. Therefore, apart from selecting locations, travel businesses have to be professional. Tour guides have to be trained about adventure tourism. It is not easy to guarantee those qualifications, as a result, small businesses lack the infrastructure to organize adventure tours, especially private companies and small tourist agents. Vietnam hasn’t any school and class to train adventure tourist guides. Travel businesses often hire local residents to lead tourists or hire cycling athletes for cycling tours. Moreover, to organize adventure tours, businesses must take a long time to complete legal and logistic procedures, about a few months or even years, thus reducing their enthusiasm. In addition, means for adventure tourism is simple. But it is hard to find and to buy and is ineviatably expensive. They are mostly bought from abroad. Therefore, to develop this type of tourism, the tourism sector should have a strategic plan and adequate investment./. |
