A plane departing from Ho Chi Minh City for the north-central province of Vinh had to land in Hanoi instead on Tuesday after there was sign that the flight was “hijacked”, an unconfirmed source said.
Vietnam News Agency quoted the source as saying that at 7:30 pm Tuesday the plane had landed safely at the Noi Bai International Airport. The airport’s security forces have been surrounding the plane to handle the situation, the source said.
The source also revealed that someone had tried to force his/her way into the cockpit. But it did not elaborate how that person was overpowered.
After landing at Noi Bai, the plane has been separated at the military zone of the airport to ensure the safety of passengers and await further investigations.
