Vietnam – A must-see destination

PANO – Vietnam is a country that you must visit, said Cousellor, Head of the Cooperation and Development Section of the Delegation of the European Commission (EC) to the Philippines Johann Farnhammer at an awards ceremony of the writing-photo contest “Enjoying Vietnamese identities” by the Saigontourist and the Youth Newspaper on the morning of December 11th.

Winning the second prize of this contest which was launched this July, the official held that the best way of popularization is tourists’ words on their wonderful experiences sent to their friends at home.



He talked with his friends that Vietnam is a must-see destination because it has all what tourists want. He also mentioned hidden charm of Vietnam such as the tourism sector’s slogan and unforgettable daily experiences.


He suggested Vietnam preserve charming features, beauty and historical remnants while developing the country. “Vietnam is the combination of the old and new era, peace and animation, sweetness and bitterness, humour and solemnity, wildlife and high-rise buildings”, he evaluated.


In his article “Identity-Endless resource”, he wrote that Vietnam, his most favourite destination in the world, is a country where culture, history, nature, culinary, shopping and people magically combine with each other. Right after he set foot in Vietnam in 1994, he fell in love with this country. He affirmed that tourists could find the best value of their money in Vietnam.

He presented his VND 15 million reward to young patients with cancer via the Youth Newspaper’s program “Thuy’s Dream”.









The writing-photo contest “Enjoying Vietnamese identities” received nearly 550 articles and over 3,000 photos from domestic and international writers. Entries feature tourism products, Vietnam’s attractions, ways to popularize and develop Vietnam’s tourism.


The first prize for the writing category went to the work “Soul of Vietnamese markets” by Tran Thuy Linh, while best photos were monthly rewarded to the winners (from July to October).


The concluding ceremony to announce the pictorial book is scheduled to take place on the 40th anniversary of the South Liberation and National Reunification Day (April 30th).
