VietNamNet Bridge – The longest vegetable garden in Hanoi can be found along the Thang Long Highway in Hanoi.
Thang Long, the country’s longest and most modern highway, opened to traffic on September 29, 2010 to celebrate the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi as Vietnam’s capital city.
The highway is 28km long, running from the Pham Hung-Khuat Duy Tien-Tran Duy Hung roundabout through Tu Liem, Hoai Duc, Quoc Oai and Thach That districts to National Highway 21A (km 31+ 64, the starting point of the Ho Chi Minh road).
People living along the highway have taken advantage of the empty land along the road to grow vegetables.
Mrs. Nguyen Thi Mo, a farmer in Dong Truc commune, Thach That district in Hanoi, said her family has planted vegetables along the highway for nearly two years.
Ms. Le Thi Bich, of Thach Hoa commune in Thach That district, claims to be a pioneer in planting organic vegetables along the road.
