PANO – Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Cung, Deputy Minister of National Defence, inspected some army units in South Vietnam on February 14th.
The units are Division 5 of Military Zone 7, the Tay Ninh Military and Border Guard Commands, and Martyr search teams K71 of the Tay Ninh Military Command and K70 of Military Zone 7.
At the working sessions, the unit’s leaders briefed the Deputy Minister of National Defence on their task performance last year and missions for this year, and their combat readiness and preparations for the 2015 Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday.
Particularly, last year, the two search teams found and collected 163 sets of remains of martyrs but only eight of them were identified.
Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Cung underlined that in the coming time, the units should seriously maintain the watch and combat readiness, especially during the Tet holiday, closely work with relevant forces to ensure the social order, effectively conduct the fight against crimes, smuggling and trade fraud, well carry out the search and repatriation of martyrs’ remains, and hold warm Tet celebration for troops.
On this occasion, the General presented them gifts and wished them a happy Tet.
