February’s FIFA ranking: Vietnam top Southeast Asia

The Vietnam men’s national football team, despite having no international matches, jumped up one place to 132nd in the February’s FIFA/Coca-Cola world ranking, joining the Philippines to lead the Southeast Asia region with 221 points.


Iran took the lead in Asia, followed by the Republic of Korea, Japan, United Arab Emirates and Uzbekistan. Vietnam claimed the 17th position.


It is the fourth consecutive month, Vietnam has enjoyed a heightened position in the world standings. Following Vietnam and the Philippines in Southeast Asia are the teams of Myanmar (141st), Thailand (143rd), Malaysia (154th), Singapore (156th), Indonesia (158th), Laos (161st), Cambodia (184th), Timor Leste (187th) and Brunei (198th).

The top ten rankings saw little change, with France slipping one place to eighth position and Uruguay moving up one step to ninth, beating Spain to 10th place.


There were no changes in the top three spots where Germany led trailed by Argentina and Colombia with 1,729, 1,534 and 1,456 points, respectively.
