NDO – President Truong Tan Sang granted the decision ranking former commander of the military zone 5 and Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Huynh Ngoc Son as Senior Lieutenant General at a ceremony in Hanoi on February 14.

Among the attendants were Politburo member and NA Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong, Politburo member and Defence Minister Phung Quang Thanh, and Politburo member and Minister of Public Security Tran Dai Quang.

The promotion decision was made as the Party, State and people’s recognition of Son’s huge contributions to the national revolutionary cause, said President Sang, adding that it was also the joint honour of officials and soldiers serving in the people’s armed forces and NA agencies.

Joining revolutionary activities in 1965, comrade Son held key positions in the Vietnam People’s Army, making enormous sacrifices to the national revolutionary, construction and defence cause. As a vice chairman of the NA, Son has joined other NA leaders to effectively direct NA operations and instruct NA agencies to continue renovating and improving operational efficiency in all fields, including security and national defence, Sang said.

The State leader expressed his belief that Sen. Lieut. Gen. and NA Vice Chairman Huynh Ngoc Son would continue promoting virtue, morality, intellect and bravery to serve the fatherland and people and fulfill all the assigned tasks.

Sen. Lieut. Gen. Son thanked the Party and State leaders for trusting him and pledged to constantly strive to complete the assigned tasks at any positions to match the confidence entrusted to him.
