PANO – A number of Tet gifts were handed over to locals to help them enjoy a warm Tet holiday by central sectors and army units these days.
Specificially, more than 100 Tet gifts were presented to poor households, victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin and the elderly in Vinh Hau commune, Hoa Binh district, Bac Lieu province, on February 9th by a mission from the Vietnam Red Cross, led by Le Hong Anh, Politburo member, Permanent Member of the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee. The official extended best wishes to the recipients as the Lunar New Year is coming near.
The same day, Nguyen Thien Nhan, Politburo member and President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front’s Central Committee, inquired after and presented 200 Tet gifts to victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin in Thanh Thuy and Thanh Son districts, Phu Tho province.

Meanwhile, Lt. Gen. Nguyen Trong Nghia, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army, on February 9th presented gifts and sent best Tet wishes to troops of the Department of Policies under the agency.
The general hailed them for their accomplishments over the past time and hoped that this year, they would continue building stance and professional etiquette and further work with other press agencies to broadcast the gratitude activities of the Party, the State and the Army.
* Five heroic Vietnamese mothers, former volunteer youths, relatives of officers and troops working on islands and 10 disadvantaged families in Quang Binh province were offered Tet gifts by a delegation of the Vietnam Women’s Union.
* The Commando Arm has extended Tet greetings and presented gifts worth more than VND 30 million to 130 policy families, poor households, village patriarches in Hoa Dong commune, Krong Pach district, Ea Tu commune and Tan Lap ward in Buon Ma Thuot city.
On the occasion of the coming Lunar New Year, Commando Brigade 198 of the Commando Arm supported 2.4 tonnes of rice for 240 policy families and poor households in the locality where the unit is stationed.
* This year, Dac Nong provincial armed forces spent over VND 1.7 billion in assisting troops and people in the locality in welcoming a warm Tet.
* Youth unions of Ha Tinh provincial Border Guard and Nam Giang Border Gate Border Post under Quang Nam Provincial Border Guard have worked with other forces to presented Tet gifts to needy locals. The Nam Giang Post also organized a Chung cake making competition in which 2,500 cakes were made to present to locals in border area.
