About VND2.8 billion has been donated for policy families, victims of Agent Orange, the disabled, lonely elderly people, etc. in the province.
On the occasion of this year’s traditional Tet (Lunar New Year), Red Cross levels in Hai Duong province have deducted their funds and mobilized officials, members, philanthropists, agencies, units, and enterprises to donate about VND2.8 billion, equivalent to 14,000 gifts, to visit and encourage policy families, victims of Agent Orange, the disabled, lonely elderly people, orphans, and poor households in the province.
Typically, Vingroup donated 500 gifts worth VND500,000 each; the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, 209 gifts worth VND500,000 each; the Social Policy Bank, 30 gifts worth VND400,000 each; and Big C supermarket, 85 gifts worth VND300,000 each.
In addition, the provincial Red Cross has directed grassroots societies to pay attention to combining gift presentation with free check-ups and medicine distribution; promote the implementation of the project “Cow Bank”, help poor people repair houses, etc.
* Thanh Ha district authorities will form four delegations to visit and present gifts worth VND500,000 each to 16 policy families and gifts worth VND400,000 each to eight elderly people from February 11 – 13.
Additionally, the district authorities will also offer 250 gifts to poor and disadvantaged people. Local authorities will wish more than 3,000 elderly people longevity.
* By February 3, Fatherland Front Committees at district and commune levels in Gia Loc district had mobilized benefactors and deducted the Fund “For the Poor” to present 416 Tet gifts worth VND300,000 each to policy beneficiaries, the disabled, and extremely disadvantaged people in the area.
