PANO – The Traditional Room in the University of Politics is displaying three guns of Hero of the People’s Armed Forces martyr Phan Dinh Linh, a former cadet of the unit.
He was born in 1944 in Xuan Yen commune, Nghi Xuan district, Central Ha Tinh province.
The three weapons were inherent in the soldier’s process of studying and fighting enemy and have become valuable items for the young generations to learn his bright example.
The first gun is an AK numbered 1908593, topmost in the photo, which was staffed to cadet Phan Dinh Linh for a training course in the university between October 1976 and December 1978. In these years, he cultivated his ability of both Party and political work and combat tactics.

Early 1979, the Vietnam-China border war broke out the very same time that he and his comrades were on probation at a unit in Northern Vietnam. So, they ardently held guns side by side with local soldiers to fight the enemy.
As an on-the-job political commissar of Company 10, Regiment 677, Linh was in charge of directing his soldiers to defend the Height 815, a place with key tactics value. He geared another AK, in the middle of the photo which he had usedto wipe out many enemy troops.
Linh’s third weapon is a RPG-2 (known as B40 in Vietnam), which been effectively used by the soldier in the border war. Thank to his military knowledge equipped in the university, Linh led the company to push back many attacks of the enemy.
However, during this time, Linh and 21 cadets of the university gave up their lives in the front.
After Linh’s sacrifice, cadres and soldiers in Company 10 continued using the two weapons of their commissar to combat the enemy.
