PANO – More than VND 13.2 billion has been spent to provide seedlings, breeders and capital for poor people nationwide by army departments and units since the beginning of 2014.
The figure was recently revealed by the Standing Board of the “Day for the poor” Campaign of the Ministry of National Defence.
Besides, units in the whole army have also offered free medicines and health check-ups to nearly half a million of people, as well as presented medical equipment, totally valued at over VND6.1 billion, to poor localities.
Noteworthily, army corps, military groups and corps, economic-defence and border guard units have implemented many infrastructure projects and constructed welfare structures while instructing locals on science and technology application and shifts in farming.
Moreover, they have welcomed more than 3,000 poor households to the localities where they are stationed, received 940 young voluntary intellectuals, and generated jobs for more than 18,500 labourers.
