The Dien Bien provincial Center for HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control and the provincial Women’s Union have presented charitable scholarships to children infected with or affected by HIV/AIDS.


Scholarship will be presented to students at primary and secondary schools in difficult circumstance, of them, children infected with and affected by HIV/AIDS will be the top priority.


As many as 65 scholarships worth over VND55 million, including equipment and cash have been awarded.


The scholarships contribute to reducing the difficulties the children have with studying and encourages them to reintegrate into the community and make friends of the same age group.


Mr. Tran Van Tho, Deputy Head of the Dien Bien provincial Center for HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control said that these were spiritual gifts to encourage children to make an effort in their study and life.


By the end of 2014, Dien Bien province diagnosed over 4,000 people infected with HIV and more than 1,800 AIDS patients in the locality, including 106 children infected with HIV./.
