Initiated in August, 2014, the school was built with a total capital of over VND3.4 billion, including VND2.5 billion from the Golden Heart Fund, VND700 million from the Fund for children of the Vietnam Trade Union, and VND294 million from the local trade union.

The school is expected to start operation in March. Workers’ children who are from 6-36 months old will be offered places.

Statistics from the Binh Duong provincial Confederation of Labour, as of June, 2014, there were nearly 4,000 children under 3 years old of workers in Ben Cat town while schools in the town were only capable of receiving 1,405 children, accounting for 31%. The situation forced nearly 70% of workers’ children who are under 3 years old to be sent to domestic keepers. Therefore, the new pre-school will satisfy workers’ legitimate demand for child keeping./.
