It is essential to prioritise draft laws to realise the 2013 Constitution in the law and ordinance development programme for 2016, said National Assembly (NA) Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu at the ongoing 36th session of the NA Standing Committee on March 16.

Luu emphasised the need for early completion of draft laws, especially those involving economic affairs, human rights, citizens’ rights and duties and the State apparatus to ensure the rights and interests of citizens.

For the 2015 law and ordinance development programme, the legislative body plans to adopt 28 draft laws and debate 26 others.

During the gathering, the NA Standing Committee agreed to extend the deadline for the submission of the draft Demonstration Law, important for the realisation of Article No. 25 of the 2013 Constitution.

Preparations for the ninth session of the 13th NA were also top of the agenda. The meeting is scheduled to take place over 36 days from May 20 to June 25, and 11 draft laws and one resolution are scheduled to be adopted and 15 draft laws will be discussed during the session.

The legislative body will also review the Government’s supplementary reports on the implementation of socio-economic development and State budget plans during 2014 and the first months of 2015.-VNA
