Because VietGAP litchis are salable and priced higher than mass litchis, the area of litchis produced under this process will be further expanded in many localities.
According to the Hai Duong Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, about 145 ha of litchis in the province will be monitored for VietGAP certification this year, nearly double last year. Of which, there will be 105 ha in Thanh Ha district and 40 ha in Chi Linh provincial town.
The total litchi yield to be monitored for VietGAP certification will be around 600 tons.
Besides, more than 1,400 other ha of litchis produced under VietGAP process in the province by farmers will not be monitored for certification.
Because VietGAP litchis are salable and priced higher than mass litchis by 15 – 20%, the area of litchis produced under this process will be further expanded in many localities.
Joining in litchi growing under VietGAP process, farmers are closely monitored from care to fruit harvest. Especially, they are guided to choose a set of safe plant protection products eligible for freeze for export.
