Taking place before the closing ceremony were the finals of men’s and women’s singles events. Exactly as assessed by the professional circle, players Huang Houyu and Peng Bo (Quangxi, China) played each other in the final after defeating top players of Vietnam in turn. Player Peng Bo beat Huang Houyu 4 – 2 to snatch the gold medal. Grabbing bronze medals in this event were players Dinh Quang Linh (the Army) and Huang Zihong (Quangxi).
The final of the women’s singles event was a competition between Vietnam’s present top player Mai Hoang My Trang (Ho Chi Minh City Petrosetco) and Liu Jingxian (Quangxi). Mai Hoang My Trang lost with the score of 3 – 4. Players Dinh Thi Hang (Hai Duong Hoang Thach Vicem Cement) and Li Chen (Guangxi) won bronze medals.
Earlier, team events finished on April 11 evening. In the men’s event, Quangxi team claimed the title, the Army ranked second, and both Hai Duong Hoang Thach Vicem Cement teams tied for third place. Quangxi team also seized the trophy of the women’s team event, Ho Chi Minh City Petrosetco pocketed the second prize, and the Ministry of Public Security and the Army shared the third prize.
The third prize is the best achievement of Hai Duong Hoang Thach Vicem Cement at three recent International Table Tennis Tournaments for Hoang Thach Cup.
