PANO – The Ho Chi Minh City Power Authority on April 17th inaugurated a 22kV submarine power cable, connecting Thach An island commune in the city’s Can Gio district to the national power grid.

The cable construction started late last year at the cost of over VND 200 billion VND.

Accordingly, Thach An is the last commune in the city that finally has an access to electricity. Earlier, its locals had had to rely on diesel generators for their daily power consumption.

The project will provide each islander a maximum power consumption of 1,000kWh per year instead of the current under 300kWh.
