PANO – The Army Officer College I on April 15th college received the Ho Chi Minh Order for the third time on its 70th founding anniversary (April 15th 1945 – April 15th 2015). President Truong Tan Sang, Senior Lieutenant General Do Ba Ty, Chief of the General Staff and Deputy Defence Minister, and other representatives of central agencies and the Ministry of National Defence attended the event.
The foundation of the college on April 15th 1945 marked an important milestone in the development of the armed forces, meeting the pressing demand for force-building, especially the training of military and political staff, to serve the revolutionary cause in general and the General Uprising in 1945 in particular.

Through its history, the college has conducted 82 major training courses, providing the army with 10,000 military cadres. The college has also trained thousands of trainees from countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America, especially Laos. Hundreds of its teaching staff and cadres have been assigned to international missions and dispatched to foreign countries for cooperation programs. This has helped bring more experiences to the college, contribute to the implementation of the foreign policies of the State and Party, and strengthen relations between the Vietnam People’s Army with other armed forces across the world.
Among graduates of the college, 300 have become high-ranking officers and cadres of the Party, State, and Army, 36 were conferred with titles “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces” and “Labour Hero.” Many others have also become well-known scientists, excellent teachers, professors, outstanding athletes, etc., bringing victories and honour to the nation.
Apart from education and training mission, the college has paid special attention to scientific research, compiling documents, reviewing combat experience and drawing lessons learnt from the wars of resistance in the history of the nation, significantly contributing to the building of the military art of Vietnam.

For its outstanding achievements, the Army Officer College I was the first military educational institution to be conferred with the title “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces” and many other noble awards and orders. During his visit to the college in 1946, President Ho Chi Minh, presented it with the flag with golden words “Loyal to the Nation, Dutiful to the People.” Since then, the words have been with the college throughout its history, serving as its honourable oath to the nation and the people, guiding it through all the upheavals and challenges.
Addressing the ceremony, President Truong Tan Sang hailed the outstanding achievements of the college over the past glorious 70 years and stressed that with those achievements, the college well deserves the trust of the Party, State, Army and the entire people.
The president also required that the college strictly follow the Party’s resolutions, directives of the Central Military Commission, and the instruction of the Ministry of National Defence so as to fulfill all assigned missions.
