PANO – Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, Deputy Defence Minister, welcomed Executive Director of the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) –Asia Tim Huxley in Hanoi on April 17th.

At the reception, the Vietnamese host stressed that Vietnam in general and the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defence in particular have been attaching importance to security forums in the Asia-Pacific region, including the Shangri-la Dialogue held by the IISS.
Over the past years, Vietnam sent its high-ranking delegations to attend dialogues to express views on regional security issues and contribute to the peace and stability in the region and the world.
For his part, Tim Huxley held that Vietnam is an important component in regional forums and believed that Vietnam would participate in the Shangri-la Dialogue in May and make contribution to the success of the event.
