Appreciating highly the results of the talks, the Vietnamese General suggested they would soon carry out their agreements, contributing to boosting the cooperation, understanding and mutual trust between the two armies in particular and the two peoples in general.

Previously, Deputy Defence Minister Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh and his Filipino counterpart Honorio S. Azcueta chaired the first Vietnam-Philippines Defence Strategy Dialogue.

They reviewed the results of the bilateral defence cooperation over recent years, especially since they signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on defence cooperation in 2010.

They agreed to heighten the cooperation through delegation exchanges at all levels, education and training, information and experience sharing in conducting the UN peacekeeping operations, joint patrols, dealing with issues relating to fishermen such as search and rescue at sea, as well as support each other in both international and regional forums.
