Vietnamese bank helps Laos develop infrastructure

PANO – The Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) and the Lao Government signed a credit contract worth nearly US$ 147 million in Vientiane on April 11th for two main projects in Houaphanh province.

These projects are to build the Xamtay-Thongthu road and to build infrastructure in Xon district, the newly established locality of the province.


BIDV Chairman Tran Bac Ha held that for years, the bank has actively contributed to Laos’ socio-economic development and he vowed to give more assistance to the country in the coming time.


Meanwhile, Lao Finance Minister Liane Thykeo regarded the loan as a proof of the two sides’ special economic cooperation relations.
