In 2014, Ho Chi Minh city has created 290,035 jobs for labourers, accounting for 109.4% of the set target, the city Department of Labour, War-Invalids and Social Affairs has reported. According to the department, in the final 6 months of this year, stable economic development has had a positive influence on the labour market, increasing enterprises’ demand for labour recruitment by 6.2%. In particular, there has been a year-on-year 5-10% increase of labour demand in some industries, including accounting – auditing, administration – office, business – sale, information and technology, architecture – construction. The sectors have been seeking to recruit higher quality and experienced labourers and those skilled with relevant training.. According to Tran Anh Tuan, Vice Director of the city Centre of Forecasting Manpower Needs and Labour Market Information (FALMI), an increase in the number of newly established enterprises of 19,486 as of early November also created favourable condition for job creation. Moreover, a range of foreign direct invested projects in different sectors have been licensed, raising the total number of FDI projects in the city to 332 with a capital of USD2.7 billion, also increasing opportunities for labourers. FALMI statistics show that in 2015, the city will be in need of 265,000 employees, including over 30,000 working in export processing and industrial zones and 10,000 new jobs./. |
