Ninh Giang citrus variety reinvigorated

Within two years under the topic, more than 1,000 seedlings were produced with 80% of survival rate.


The Science and Technology Department, in coordination with the Institute of Food and Foodstuff Crops, has reviewed the topic “Selecting and reinvigorating the special citrus variety of Ninh Giang district, Hai Duong province, in the 2011 – 2012 period”.


Within two years under the topic, more than 1,000 seedlings were produced with 80% of survival rate and planted in the Cau Xe Fruit and Medicinal Plant Variety Enterprise (Tu Ky), Vinh Hoa and Van Hoi communes (Ninh Giang).


During the topic, Boodo, Topxin, and Mancozeb were used to exterminate harmful soot like fungi on citrus trees.


Currently, the special citrus variety of Ninh Giang is falling into oblivion with only about 3.7 ha left.


The households are growing oranges in small scales with an annual output of nearly 30 tons only.
