(VOV) - The Vietnamese State always creates the best possible conditions for the overseas Vietnamese communities abroad to get involved in the country’s important political events.

Vietnamese ambassador to France Duong Chi Dung made the statement at a ministerial meeting on national communities living abroad held in Paris on June 17 with the participation of 33 foreign delegations along with many representatives of international organization.

This is the first time such a meeting of its kind has been held on the initiative of Helene Conway-Mouret Minister Delegate for French Nationals Abroad with the aim of promoting international cooperation in dealing with the rising number of immigrants in big countries over the past decades.

Participants in the meeting shared first-hand experience and information relating to the development of national communities abroad and contributions to their countries of residence as well as their home countries.

In his speech, ambassador Dung said that Vietnam appreciates contributions made by overseas Vietnamese communities (estimated at around 4.5 million in more than 100 countries and territories around the world).

He highlighted the role of more than 300,000 Vietnamese residents in France with their contribution of overseas remittance increasing by 10 percent annually and making Vietnam one of the top 10 receivers in 2011.

Vietnam always pays due attention to organizing regular conferences, seminars and gatherings for Vietnamese residents abroad to contribute their opinions to major national issues. It also encourages them and their foreign partners to increase investment in Vietnam’s consumer goods supply system, Dung added.
