(VEN) – The Agency for Industrial Promotion said that in the first six months of 2013, provinces and cities in the central region and Tay Nguyen (Central Highlands) carried out 101 industry promotion projects, including 22 national projects and 79 local projects.
These provinces and cities spent VND5.5 billion on industry promotion, fulfilling 17.3 percent of the yearly plan. Of this, VND687 million was spent on national projects (4.7 percent of the yearly plan) and over VND4.84 billion on local projects (27.9 percent of the yearly plan). Some provinces have effectively organized vocational training courses and helped businesses improve management capabilities, generate more jobs, build technical demonstration models and apply new technologies in production, participate in fairs and exhibitions, and provided them with consultancy and information.
In 2012, provinces and cities in the central region and Tay Nguyen implemented 286 industry promotion projects, including 32 national projects and 254 local projects. Their expenditure on industry promotion totaled VND23.163 billion.
Compared with the same period last year, the implementation of industry promotion projects in the first half of 2013 was slower. The leadership of the Agency for Industrial Promotion has requested provinces and cities in the central region and Tay Nguyen to effectively implement industry and trade promotion projects which have been approved and take appropriate measures to stimulate the production of agricultural, forest and aquatic products as well as the combination between rural development and the processing of agricultural, forest and aquatic products./.
